Preparing for the written TQE

Students prepare for the written TQE in a variety of ways. Some sit in on the lectures for the undergraduate subject corresponding to the exams they plan on taking. More ambitious students register for the subject as a listener or even for credit. Some students also sit in on the final exam for these subjects, which take place one week before the TQE. However, this practice requires advance permission of the teaching staff administering the final exam and it is generally not encouraged. Copies of old TQEs are available in the EECS Graduate Office. Students also form TQE study groups and exchange materials they have accumulated.
