TAs should figure out what safety training they are required to do for the specific subject they are teaching early; they should ask the ask the prof as soon as their TA assignment is made about safety training.

There are several types of training that may be necessary. For example, If you will be hanging out in electronics labs (such as 6.002, 6.003, 6.101, etc.), make sure you have completed the safety training by the end of the first week. 6.021 and 6.022 have animal certification tests, which take quite some time to complete, and optics classes have laser safety requirements. The other annoying thing is that regardless of the class you teach if you get assigned a tutorial room in any of the lab areas on the 5th and 6th floor of building 38, you still have to go through the electrical safety training even if you don't actually do anything in the lab.

Dealing with safety training is something that people always forget to tell you until a couple days before the labs (and then you get yelled out by the safety office because you were suppose to have done it months ago)!
